The Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park (NPPNP) has a total area of 12,009.29 hectares that comprises three (3) municipalities in Aklan and two (2) municipalities in Antique. The Aklan side has an area of 4.917 hectares and Antique side has an area of 7,092.29 hectares.
lt was proclaimed as a natural park by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 186 issued Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on April 25, 2002 and legislated as such pursuant to R.A. No. 11038, known as the "Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (ENIPAS) Act of 2018" promulgated on June 22,2018 amending some sections of R.A.No. 7586, the "National Integrated Protected Area System (NIPAS) Act of 1992. Also new provisions were added thereto.
The NPPNP is located in the northwest section of Panay Island. Bordered in the northeast by Boracay Island and Sibuyan Sea, by the Central Panay Mountains in the southeast, and the Sulu Sea in the northwest portion.
The Park encompasses major watersheds that support agricultural, domestic and commercial needs of the peninsula.
