DENR Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Units Concerns Benny Antiporda said that the importance of the approval of the ten-year solid waste management (SWM) plans of the local government units (LGUs) is “to know if the plan that they made is doable.” He also said that the National Solid Waste Management Commission will be reaching out to far-flung LGUs so as to fast-track the development of their respective SWM plans and focus more on the monitoring of the plans’ implementation. Antiporda made the statement during the commission’s en banc meeting held on October 29, 2018 at Icon Hotel, Timog, Quezon City, where resolutions approving the 10-year SWM plans were awarded to 30 LGUs.###
