Offering a range of services aimed at promoting environmental stewardship and sustainability, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Guimbal headed by CENR Officer Vicente T. Mellizas Jr. actively participated in the recently concluded Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) on December 9-10, 2023, at Guimbal National High School, Guimbal, Iloilo.

As part of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 delegation, the highlights of the office’s participation included the distribution of land titles, issuance of wildlife and forest permits, and seedlings distribution.

A total of eighty (80) land patents were issued to pre-identified beneficiaries, with a total area of 59.3978 hectares. It has an estimated value of PHP 890,967,000.00.

Meanwhile, out of the 3,000 seedlings brought by CENRO Guimbal for distribution, 1,168 have been availed of which 134 are Cacao (Theobroma cacao), 105 Coffee (Coffea), 159 Narra (Pterocarpus indicus), 312 are Philippine Ash (Fraxinus griffithii) locally known as Tapuyay, and 458 Atsuete (Bixa Orellana). The remaining seedlings are planned to be donated to Guimbal National High School to support their tree planting activities within their premises or surrounding communities.

These activities were conducted in the presence of DENR 6 Regional Executive Director Livino B. Duran, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Raul L. Lorrilla, PENR Officer Salvador C. Manglinong Jr. of PENRO Iloilo, and CENR Officers Glen S. del Norte of CENRO Barotac Nuevo and Rene G. Abordo of CENRO Sara. Employees from the different CENROs, PENROs, Regional Office, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) also actively participated and rendered their respective service offerings.

CENRO Guimbal’s participation reflects its commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, and at the same time, fostering collaboration and partnership with the people.

BPSF is an avenue for the government to engage directly with the community to address their needs and concerns. A total of 53 government agencies participated in the serbisyo fair, catering to an estimated 80,000 or more registered Ilonggo beneficiaries.
